General information

Lotus is sacred to Indian and is offered to their Gods and Goddesses while performing prayers and rituals. Ayurveda describes Lotus as an important herb and has many therapeutic benefits. It is very beneficial for people with Pitta disorders, due to its cold potency. It is diuretic and helps to treat urine related diseases. The leaf paste when applied externally helps in skin inflammatory conditions. An extract from the leaves has also found benefits in regulating the digestive system and bowel movement. Lotus flower, stem and roots are edible and are used in various culinary preparations.
