General information
Cogon Grass which is also known as Darbha in India, has an ancient history and religious importance. It is said that Buddha used a seat made of Cogon Grass for his meditation and attained an enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree. Vedas has given this grass a sacred importance. Ayurveda also mentions this herb and its therapeutic benefits. The flowers and roots are used for medicinal preparation. It has antibacterial and is used in skin ailments and wounds. Astringent properties of this herb are found beneficial in treating gastrointestinal and urinary tract diseases.
