Spondias pinnata also known as Golden Apple is related to the Cashew Family. Its fruit is sour in taste and are edible along with its Flowers and young leaves. Bark possesses antibacterial properties and has been used by the common folks to cure wounds, burns and sores. In India, unripe fruits are traditionally used as an aphrodisiac. An extract from the bark acts as a laxative and helps in the treatment of gastrointestinal tract disorders. The bark is a potential source of natural antioxidants. It also possesses antimicrobial properties and is beneficial in treating skin ailments and wounds.
