Eucalyptus has a been used by Ayurvedic practitioners for its therapeutic benefits. Essential oil extracted from this herb has been used for medicinal preparations and aromatherapy. Ointments and lotions which are traditionally used has eucalyptus oil as an important ingredient. Eucalyptus oil acts as an expectorant and is used for treating respiratory tract disorders. It has anti-inflammatory properties which help in relieving the pain in joints and muscle spasms. It has anti-septic properties and is used in treating skin ailments and wounds.
